How to find us

Mortimer Terrace Nature Reserve is tucked away at the end of Wesleyan Place, off Highgate Road:

Go down the cobbled street between the health food shop and the estate agents, go through the white arch and immediately turn right.

Go through the solid wooden door into the reserve and follow the path for ten metres to the little wooden gate that guards the enclosed area of the school.

The closest Underground stations are Tufnell Park and Kentish Town.

(Note that Kentish Town station is closed until “Summer 2024”.)

The closest Overground station is Gospel Oak.

Buses: 88 and 214 – Gordon House Road stop.

We don’t recommend coming by car. However, the closest parking is at the Lido.

A designated Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, the Mortimer Terrace Nature reserve has existed since the nineteenth century, and has been community managed since 1987. In 2022, the council was able to purchase the land to protect it in perpetuity.

Dominated by the large sycamore trees, also present are a selection of classic woodland species including elder, rowan and hazel. Woodland flowers like wild garlic and bluebells can be seen in spring.
